Now that you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you need to be willing to learn more about Him, and His Father, and their helper – the Holy Spirit.
In John 14:6, Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father accept through me.”
Jesus is the one and only true and sacrificial son of God, the Father. Jesus existed before the creation of the world and left His throne in heaven to be born as a baby and experience humanity from the humblest of starts. He understands our pain, passion, temptations, and trials. He faced all that we have to face and more but never sinned. He never allowed separation between Him and the Father God.
It is because of our newfound relationship with Jesus and His incredible relationship with the Father that we have access to God, the Father. A holy God cannot be in the presence of sin. (Rom 3:23) “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” But since the blood of Christ covers our sin, we are seen as righteous (made right) in the eyes of God.
It is like God has put on rose colored glasses (pink) red and white. He looks at us through the blood (red) and holiness(white) of His Son, Jesus, and we become acceptable and presentable to Him.
So it is only through Jesus that we can approach the Father. The Holy Spirit is also part of the person and presence of God. He is separate from God, the Father, and God, the Son. Just like the Father sent the Son to accomplish His will; Jesus sent the Holy Spirit after Him to accomplish this same will. Just like Jesus left heaven to live on earth, the Holy Spirit also leaves heaven and takes up residence in every new Believer in Jesus.
The three are separate entities and personalities but are “one” God. They are called the Godhead. The Holy Spirit is also known as the Power of God or the Breath of God also the Comforter. He is sometimes symbolized by water or by fire or by wind.
Here is an illustration that puts it all together for you.
Picture God the Father as an architect, Jesus as a carpenter, and Holy Spirit as an electrician, a heating/AC tech, and a plumber all in one.
God, the Father, is “the man with the plan.” He creates a comprehensive set of schematics and hands them to Jesus, the Carpenter. Jesus commences to build exactly what He sees as the Father’s plan and intention. Before you know it, He has built a house.
But a house is just a shell without power, “comfort” air, or water. So the Holy Spirit comes in with the Power of God (electrician)and the Breath of God (heat/AC) and the flow of God like water (plumber). He also follows the schematics to spec.
Ultimately they work together separately but in harmony and unison to accomplish the Father’s will.
They are one in purpose, power, and authority. Together they are one God.
